Accounts & Mac
Bring your supported email accounts together in a native Mac app.
| Feature | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Native macOS app | A three-pane mail workspace built for macOS 14 and later. Resize the sidebar and message list, with your layout remembered. |
| Apple silicon and Intel | Run Inbox Invaders on supported Macs with either processor. |
| Multiple email accounts | Keep personal and work accounts together, with a separate identity for each. |
| Unified Inbox | See incoming mail from your connected accounts in one place. |
| Account connection status | See which accounts are connected, downloading or need attention. |
| Gmail sign-in | Connect Gmail through Google’s browser sign-in. Access depends on the current beta and provider approval. Contact us to confirm Gmail access. |
| iCloud Mail | Connect your iCloud email with an Apple app-specific password. Requires an app-specific password issued by Apple. |
| Yahoo Mail | Read and send Yahoo email alongside your other accounts. Requires a Yahoo app password and provider permission for mail access. |
| Fastmail | Bring your Fastmail inbox and folders into the same workspace. Requires a Fastmail app password and a plan that supports email-app access. |
| Reconnect an account | Renew sign-in or replace an app password when an account needs attention. |
18 FEATURES
Reading & search
Move through your inbox with prepared messages, flexible conversations and useful ways to find mail.
| Feature | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Full Inbox downloads | Download your Inbox in the background, newest messages first, then continue through its older pages. The first download needs a connection and takes time according to Inbox size. |
| Offline reading | Read saved message content without an internet connection. New mail, external images, unsaved attachments, sending and changes at your provider still need a connection. |
| Prepared message views | Prepare saved messages and nearby reader views ahead of selection for smoother triage. Available in beta 0.3.19 and later. First downloads, unusually large messages and unavailable image hosts can still take time. |
| Open-folder downloads | Download the loaded page of messages when you open another folder and keep them available for later reading. Load older mail for more history. Opening a folder does not save its entire history automatically. |
| Load older mail | Bring in earlier messages from a folder when you need more history. |
| Ongoing mail checks | Keep connected accounts up to date while Inbox Invaders is running, or refresh when you want to check for new mail. Mail checking pauses when you quit the app. |
| HTML and plain-text mail | Read formatted email on a neutral surface, with sender scripts blocked and plain text available for messages that use it. |
| Conversation grouping | Group related saved messages in the current folder or filtered view. Replies in other folders or not yet downloaded can fall outside the conversation shown. |
| Individual-message view | Switch off conversation grouping when you prefer a separate row for each message. |
| Thread order | Choose newest-first or oldest-first reading within a conversation. |
| Thread display styles | Choose expandable message cards or an expanded thread. In expandable view, open all messages or collapse older replies. |
| Quoted-text controls | Collapse recognised quoted correspondence or expand it by default when you want the full context. The control appears when the message’s quoted text is recognised. |
| Conversation list sorting | Sort conversations newest first or oldest first. |
| Search saved mail | Find text in the messages already saved on your Mac. |
| Search your provider | Search a selected folder at your provider for additional subject or sender matches. Requires a connection and at least three characters. Up to 50 recent matches per folder; body matches require saved message content. |
| Quick and account filters | Focus on selected accounts, unread or flagged mail, messages with attachments, today’s messages or mail sent by you. |
| Copy message text | Select and copy text from a message, or copy its subject from the context menu. |
| Received attachments | Download an attachment when needed, then open it or reveal it in Finder. Attachments download on demand rather than with every Inbox message. |
18 FEATURES
Writing & sending
Compose, reply and send with clear attachment controls, saved drafts and a recoverable Outbox.
| Feature | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Choose your sending account | Pick the connected account you want to send from in Compose. |
| To, Cc and Bcc | Address a message to its recipients, with separate fields for copies and hidden copies. |
| Recipient checks | Check recipient address formatting before a message can be sent. |
| Rich-text messages | Keep supported emphasis, links, lists, colours and basic tables in your message. |
| Formatted paste | Paste supported formatting into the writing area without bringing in the sender’s active content. |
| Reply and reply all | Respond to the sender or the message’s recipients. |
| Forward a message | Forward a message with attachments you have already downloaded. Download files from the original message before opening Forward. |
| Original-message preview | Keep the original email below your reply, including its layout and earlier correspondence. |
| Remove the original quote | Leave the original message out when you want a cleaner reply. |
| Inline images and files | Drop files into the message at the writing cursor. Images appear as previews; other files appear as named chips. The recipient’s mail app determines the final appearance of inline files. |
| Drag-and-drop attachments | Drop Finder files into the attachment tray or choose them with Add Files. Zip folders before attaching them. Files dragged from other apps may need to be saved in Finder first. |
| Attachment review | See filenames and sizes, open files, reveal them in Finder or remove them before sending. |
| Draft autosave | Keep unfinished messages saved on your Mac as you write. |
| Save drafts to your account | Choose Save Draft to save locally and upload a copy to your provider’s Drafts folder. Provider saving requires a valid To recipient, downloaded attachments, a connection and an available Drafts folder. |
| Reusable templates | Save a subject and message text, then reuse, edit or delete the template later. |
| Send and archive | Choose to archive the original conversation after your reply is accepted for sending. Optional; switched off by default. |
| Recoverable Outbox | Review messages waiting to send or needing attention, then retry, edit or delete them. |
| Uncertain-delivery protection | Keep an interrupted or unconfirmed send visible for review. The Retry action checks Sent before sending again. Check unresolved delivery with your provider or recipient before editing and sending a new attempt. |
17 FEATURES
Organising & triage
Clear, file and follow up with the tools you use every day.
| Feature | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Nested folders | Browse your provider’s folder tree, with expandable parents and distinct folders under each account. |
| Custom folders | Create, rename and delete your own folders in a connected account. Only empty custom folders can be deleted. |
| Unread counts | See unread counts for saved mail in your folders and conversations. Counts reflect the downloaded mail in the current view, rather than a full provider mailbox total. |
| Archive, delete and move | File mail in Archive, move it to Trash or choose a destination folder. Temporary failures retry automatically; failed actions remain available to review and retry. Folder moves stay within the selected account. Delete moves mail to Trash rather than permanently deleting it. |
| Read and unread controls | Mark messages or selected conversations read or unread. |
| Flags | Flag mail that deserves attention and clear flags when you are finished. |
| Bulk triage | Select several conversations to archive, delete, mark read, flag or snooze them together. |
| To-do, Memo and Done | Give mail a clear colour-coded status, separate from its flag. Statuses are saved on this Mac and do not change your provider’s mail. |
| Snooze conversations | Hide a conversation until later today, tomorrow morning or next week. Snooze is local to this Mac and does not schedule a message to be sent. |
| Manage snoozed mail | Review return times, cancel a snooze or wake due mail. |
| Smart folders | Save a search with quick filters and selected accounts for a view you can return to. |
| Text-matching Inbox rules | Match text in sender details, subjects or messages and apply an action to incoming mail. Rules run on this Mac while Inbox Invaders is running. |
| Rule actions and controls | Archive, trash, mark read or unread, flag, notify or move matching mail. Edit, enable, disable or delete each rule. |
| Game Over sender blocking | Move that sender’s messages in the selected conversation to Trash, and filter future Inbox mail from that exact address. Future filtering applies across connected accounts on this Mac while the app runs; it is not a provider-wide block or a whole-domain filter. |
| Blocked-sender controls | Review blocked addresses, unblock a sender and choose whether Game Over asks for confirmation. Unblocking allows future mail; it does not restore messages already moved to Trash. |
| Empty Bin and Spam | Review the account and full message count before permanently clearing either folder. Permanent deletion cannot be undone and requires compatible provider support. |
| Keep moving through the list | After archiving or deleting, continue with the next older visible conversation where possible, or the nearest remaining conversation. |
12 FEATURES
Controls & privacy
Keep control of your mail, sign-in details, shortcuts and notifications.
| Feature | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Direct provider connections | Your Mac connects to your email provider to receive, send and manage mail. The marketing site does not receive your mailbox. |
| Local mail storage | Keep saved messages, search content, drafts, attachments and preferences on your Mac. |
| Keychain sign-in protection | Protect OAuth tokens and app passwords with the macOS Keychain in Keychain-enabled builds. Some test builds retain sign-in credentials only for the current app session. |
| Verified secure connections | Connect to supported mail providers with verified encrypted transport. |
| External images blocked by default | Read messages without automatically contacting the sender’s image hosts. |
| Your image-loading choice | Show or hide external images for one message, or enable automatic images in Settings. Loading external images contacts their hosts and may disclose that a message was opened. Embedded scripts and forms stay blocked even when images are shown. |
| Remove an account locally | Remove an account’s saved mail, drafts, attachments and credentials from this Mac after confirmation. Removing an account does not delete mail at your provider. Save any unsent local material first. |
| Custom keyboard shortcuts | Record, disable or reset shortcuts for mail actions, navigation and composing. |
| Single-key shortcuts | Navigate and triage with quick keys. Mail shortcuts pause while you type or use a dialog. |
| Right-click actions | Reply, forward, file, flag, set a status or snooze from the conversation list and reading-pane header. |
| Background mail notifications | Receive macOS alerts for new unread Inbox arrivals while the mail window is hidden, minimised or in the background. Click an alert to open its message. Requires macOS permission and the app to remain running. Alerts stay quiet while the app is active and a mail window is visible. |
| Private notification controls | Keep sender and subject hidden by default, enable previews if you want them and control notification sound separately from arcade effects. |
8 FEATURES
Arcade & preferences
Turn everyday mail progress into a small win, with effects and language that suit you.
| Feature | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Earn XP | Earn experience points for confirmed mail actions and successful sends. Progress stays on this Mac and never includes sender, recipient, subject or message text. |
| Player levels | Build your level as you work through mail and earn XP. |
| Triage combos | Build up to a 3× multiplier by completing rewarded triage actions in quick succession. |
| Daily streaks | Track consecutive days of rewarded mail actions. |
| Inbox Zero rewards | Earn a bonus when an account’s Inbox view is clear. Snoozed messages and mail still downloading can remain at your provider. |
| Choose your arcade effects | Control sound cues, CRT scanlines, background glow, starfield density and screen impact. |
| Reduced effects | Respect macOS Reduce Motion and Reduce Transparency preferences with quieter visual feedback. |
| Traditional or arcade names | Choose familiar Inbox, Archive, Compose and Settings labels, or keep the arcade language. |
